The Hay Junior Youth Theatre is designed for 7-11 year olds With get-to-know you theatre games, improvisations and performance skill training….. all designed to build confidence and raise self-esteem. This is professionally led by Director/writer Janine Sharp who is Artistic Director of Hay Theatre CIC.

"Catattax" Christmas Special
Saturday December 17th 2016 brought hilarity and Christmas cheer, as Fat Cat, Bad Cat and Swindle reappeared having stolen the Christmas Fairy. The Alley Cats rally to the emergency and Christmas magic is restored once again. This sequel to the summer show was written by Director Janine Sharp and very relevant to these uncertain political times. Song and dance routines included, " All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" sung by Grey Cat and " Shakin' all over" sung by Scaredy Cat.
Hay Junior Youth Theatre "Catattax"
On Saturday July 2nd 2016 the Junior Youth Theatre put on a fabulous performance of "Catattax", a play written by Artistic Director Janine Sharp, exposing the greed of Fat Cat, Bad Cat and Swindle who sit on the cabinet in Purrliament passing laws that affect every cat in the nation but in particular the alley cats.
It was a purrect purrformance including song and dance numbers and enjoyed by all.
Hay Theatre Company's Paddington Summer School 2015
From August 5th to 8th 2015 we held fun-filled Drama workshops with professional Director Janine Sharp based on the famous Paddington Bear books. No line learning was necessary, no experience of being a bear was necessary, kids aged 7+ just came along and enjoyed the professionally led improvisation, fun-filled, confidence-building sessions.
The Mystery of Easter Egg Island
Captain Carbuncle and his crew on the Flying Pig set sail at Clyro Village Hall for Hay Junior Youth Theatre's performance of The Mystery of Easter Egg Island on Saturday 12th September 2015 at noon, written and directed by Janine Sharp. "It really made me feel happy inside" said audience member Vicky after watching the show. It was full of fun songs and action on board ship and on the mysterious Easter Egg Island. See more photos.
Hay Theatre Company's Magical Summer School 2014
During the 2014 Summer Holidays we held a summer school of magic!! Working with local professional magician Mr Bamboozle, we provided 3 mornings of Drama Workshops exploring the theme of MAGIC, Thursday 31st July- Saturday August 2nd.

Day 1 Mr Bamboozle performed a magic show and taught a few simple but impressive tricks

Day 2 and 3 More magic and Artistic Director of Hay Theatre Janine Sharp led Drama workshops, where partners worked on a short improvised scene (that means no line learning) and performed their short show of magic tricks to family at noon on the Saturday. It was FUN! FUN! FUN!!!
Myths and Legends
Hay Junior Youth Theatre put on a fabulous performance of 'Myths and Legends' written and directed by Janine Sharp on Saturday 12th July 2014, noon for friends and family at the Globe in Hay-on-Wye.

Ages 7-9 performed 'The Legend of Maud and the Wyvern', a local tale about the Mordiford Serpent in Herefordshire (the Serpent's Back is a set of hills behind Mordiford).

Ages 10-11 performed 'The Ballard of Bold Captain Jack Courageous', a tale of an infamous highwayman and the wicked Lady Doom.
