Hay Community Theatre

We aim to encourage children to become physically and vocally active away from computers, exploring the outdoors through drama.

About this cause

Hay Theatre produces and delivers community and professionally-led performing arts activities/events which benefit the community and provide the Hay area with an imaginative, creative and inclusive environment. We provide a sustainable training ground that engages, entertains, educates, inspires and builds personal confidence and self-esteem, literacy, vocal and physical skills and co-ordination regardless of age, race, sexual orientation or ability. Using teamwork and experience of professionally led theatre and production techniques the aim is to entertain and challenge participants, providing an outlet for citizenship and creative community involvement and growth. Our outreach work enables full inclusivity especially where travel or mobility may be an issue.

How this cause brings people in the community together

"The Midsummer Garden" a drama project combining an abridged version of Midsummer Night's Dream for teenagers, together with "Round & Round the Garden" written by 7-11-year olds exploring nature. Performed in gardens/outdoor spaces to an inclusive audience with dementia groups and Hay schools, providing cultural enrichment, environmental awareness, education and community enjoyment.
